Trying to remove Oil pump bracket from damaged block for salvage. Tried slotting screws and using BIG screwdriver and vice grips after soaking in PB Barnum Blaster, cold chisel and easy out. NO LUCK! Time to get out the torch?
Those aren't supposed to come out. They were installed with a jig to align with the camshaft and the bolt heads removed, so it would be nearly impossible without that jig to get one aligned properly in another block. If you really want it out, drill out the block with a bit that's larger than the bolt diameter till the bracket comes loose, then deal with the bolt stubs in the bracket if you're trying to save the bracket. Or even easier, throw the bracket out with the block.

The bolts are staked from the back side. Use a cutoff wheel in a small angle grinder and slice off the end of the bolt that sticks through the bracket inside the crankcase. Heating the round bolt head cherry red also releases the torque on it. A pair of vise grips on the screwdriver shaft helps, also. It's easy for anybody with a lathe to make a stub shaft to align the bracket in a different block. Jerry

Or a pneumatic chisel to break the block away from the bracket. Or a sawzall. You did say the block was being salvaged (I took that to mean taken to the recycling yard as scrap.)

The Victor Hot Wrench works- - - -I've done it a few times. Heat the bolt head up cherry red after cutting a slot in it and it backs right out with a big screwdriver. Jerry
