Also not the best day today for the wiring. Wanted to put the wiring under the dash back together, but while I installed the left clock back in the dash a cable became stuck. Unfortunately I pulled to hard and for some reason the topside of the headlight switch came off.

loosened all the wiring on the headlight switch (numbered all of them) and tried to put the headlight switch back together. Thought I did it right, rewired it and tried it. BOOM! the thing almost set up in flames!!! Cut off the battery immediately. The thing was very hot and the points were completely burned. So I need to buy a new one.
Now my question is, is there something that could cause this? I know I could have put the thing back together the wrong way, but maybe something went wrong with the cables. I don't want to almost set the truck up in flames a second time. Could it be that the wiring made some kind of short?
