I would like to turn my 1935 1 and 1/2 ton into a 1/2 ton street rod. Is there some way to modify my heavy axle and suspension and brakes to convert it into a 1/2 ton front with hydraulic brakes? Or would I be better off swaping with a 1/2 ton pickup.

Swap it with a 1/2 ton. Although we'll all be crying the whole time your doing it.
