Does anyone know the size and have a source for the two long studs which secure the exhaust manifold heat riser box to the intake manifold? The two bolts came out fine, but sheared off both studs trying to remove the nuts. TIA!

3/8 16 x length. FLAPs have a variety of studs. Always snug up manifold bolts, tighten up inter manifold bolts before head bolts.

Have you removed the broken studs yet? Welding a nut to the stub often times puts enough heat on the stud and the manifold to break the bond and you can remove them with a wrench. A torch never seems to work as well as welding that nut on the stud.
I hate drilling them out because I can't seem to hit the center with a drill, nor drill straight down.

Ended up shearing off both the nuts on one end, and the stud on the other. Was able to drill them out and retap, so now just need to find a couple 3/8"-16 x 2-3/4" or 3" studs at my local parts store.

Exhaust flange studs for the heat riser side of a small block Chevy V8 should be about the right length. They come three to a package, and some kits also have brass nuts included. Most local parts stores stock those kits.

Brass nuts, as Jerry says, do not sieze up over time, because of different expansion rates!

If you want to drill them out and there is any exposed thread on the stud, this works for me. Take a piece of 3/4" or 1" stock and drill a 3/8" diameter hole deep enough to fit over the exposed stud. Then drill the rest of the way through the stock with a 5/16" dia. bit. Clamp the piece of stock over the exposed stud and using the 5/15" hole as a guide, drill out the stud with a 5/16 bit. . The 3/8" hole will hold the stock centered over the stud and the 5/16 " bit matches the tap drill for a 3/8-16 stud, leaving nothing in the hole but the threads of the stud.

Make the guide sleeve out of air hardening drill rod, and you can use it more than once. Get it cherry red with a torch, and when it cools down it will be harder than woodpecker lips!
