Looking at Grigg's old sticky post above, he mentions NAPA 262-1016 for a King Pin set. I looked on Napa, nothing shows up.
Where are you guys sourcing your king pin sets?

Marty,

Here is a link to a Moog Part number (8492B) that cross references to the original GM Part# 38588389. Specifications indicate it will fit your requirement (even though not listed in the vehicle application list). If you scroll down, it gives a long list of cross referenced manufacturer and part numbers that will fit your application (including the NAPA 262-1016).

Moog 8492B

After a short web search of a couple of the cross referenced part numbers, here is a link (not mine) to a seller with 3 sets for sale on eBay at a very reasonable price:

King Pin Set

Hope this is of some help in your search. headscratch

Let us know how it turns out. thumbs_up

Is that GM Part number you referenced above correct? Might you have added an extra "8" in the part number because you linked to ebay and they reference 3858389
Your MOOG numbers do jibe. I went ahead and ordered the ebay set. Very reasonably priced.

Thanks!!!!
Marty

I would leave that sticky of Grigg's about the disc brake swaps. There is a LOT of useful information in there for those of us contemplating the work. I say leave it where it is.
There are MANY broken photo links in the messages but there is still some good info in there.

The Big Bolt Moderators will update it all, fix the broken links, and post a new thread. Any input you'd like to share, just send up a "flag" here in Big Bolts and the messages goes to both BB Mods here. smile

Not remove it until all done. thumbs_up

Perfect Peggy.
I'm going to try and do the disc brake conversion as outlined by Grigg. I will try and start a new topic about it. Showing how things go along the way and the pit falls.....No promises though. So much work to do!

If you can/want to do that ... you might check with Project Journals Moderator (HandyAndy).

I bet that would be a good project to put up as a step-by- step show-and-tell ... with feedback and Q&A.

Project Journals

The restoblogs! Ongoing projects (restorations, modifications, outright street machines, as well as smaller scale component projects (steering, engines, etc.) -- all in near real time! Blow-by-blow, step-by-step description, commentary and discussion by the project persons themselves ... and you are there!

Marty,

You may want to stay in BB to post progress. It can easily be moved to PJ, after you feel you've got the nuts and bolts worked out.

The BB group is very willing to participate. May be able to get Grigg in here for some feedback also. wink

Got it Peggy.
Ed Pruss has been most helpful as well.

Marty,

You are correct, one too many "8's" in that number (I blame it on stubby-fingeritis - LOL)! not me

Good catch and thanks for pointing it out. thumbs_up

FWIW, that eBay set price was the best I found. Most sources found searching the Moog number came back with prices substantially higher, and almost all listed as out of stock with a note to add your name to a wait list or check back later.

Glad you were able to score a reasonable deal! yahoo
