hello all, its been a long time since ive been on here but im back. im looking for sources for new outer tie rod ends on my 58 chevy 6400 (2 ton) truck. i was able to find a new drag link but the tie rods are beat and it makes towing anything into an extreme sport of "keep it between the lanes" since any bump, dip or spec of dirt on the road makes the truck change its mind on where its heading. does anyone have any information on sources to get new tie rod ends? thanks!

There were a couple different axles used. What's the thread size your tie rod ends, are they 1" or 1-1/8"?

I used the MOOG site to look up specs on different ends, once I had the P/N I ordered from Summit.

Here are the part numbers I bought for my '57 5700 Low Cab Forward 2 ton. Dorman boxed 24318T0 and 24319T0, those numbers are on the tag on the plastic bag. The Dorman number on the box for one of them isT090132PR. I have not put these on the truck yet as I'm planning on replacing the king pins, drag link, tie rod ends all a the same time this winter.

I will need to double check, i know it has the 7,000lb front axle under it, 2 ton truck.

I hope doorman isnt the only brand, they arent known for the greatest quality. And since i work this truck hard i want to make sure i get the best quality brand i can possibly get. But i appreciate those p#'s ill look into them to see if they are the same as mine

Dorman was not my first choice, it was my only choice from what I remember, I did quite-a-bit of searching on the innnerweb. I agree, I want the best I can find 'cuz I don't want to replace them again, but they should be better than the loose ones that are currently in use. As long as you keep them greased they should last awhile.

Measure carefully On steering linkeages, GM have used 16 tpi and 18 tpi on the same truck. Had to get LH tap made to shorten drag link on my 2 ton.

If you're sure you have the 7000# axle then you need the 1-1/8" ends, as that's the optional HD axle.
