Just bought a couple of weeks ago. 2.5 hrs from our house. My son and I went and picked it up on a Sunday afternoon.
I wanted something mostly restored and mechanically sound. So that we could enjoy it right away with little to no immediate fixes.
This one was restored back in 2000. Its a good 10-15 footer. Not museum quality resto but decent.
Upgraded engine replacement 235 from a 56 sedan. 56 trans Saginaw, 3 on the tree, 57 GMC truck Dana 45.
At the moment everything works as it should, other than the fuel gauge in inaccurate after 1/4 tank. (Will address this later.)
We are excited to get it and can't wait to have family fun with it. Central VA weather, may not use it as much until spring, but will defiantly have it out on the warm days during the winter.

You may call it a 10 footer, but she is a mighty fine looking rig, whom ever built it left a big part of themselves in it, tried hard and spent $$$ too. Make memories, miles to go!
Nice rig for sure. Pictures say it all. Someone put some love into that truck.
Welcome to Stovebolt

Welcome, you are from some of my old stomping grounds. I still have relatives there and I visit when I can. If you don't mind, tell us how much you paid. I have a 1954 that I am considering selling.

From what I understand the PPO had it for a while and restored it in 2000. then the PO who you will see in the video bought it in 2012. He only put 2000 miles on it in 10 years. Now we have it and I don't see it leaving the family.
That's an interesting video. I guess not everyone has trailered their truck on a regular basis. Or maybe I have just seen too many, up close and personal. Glad you have the video. Do you know if the PO or PPO were familiar with the site here?
You might want to put a flag down in the ODSS forum. Quite of few in VA ... most of them always itching to wrench. You'll see that in their forum posts.
Glad to see your son is also interested. We have a lot of "father and son" gallery stories. Easy to find them just using the Search feature on the left. I just typed in "Father and Son" ... We always made a point to mention that when family members were involved.
Welcome to the site. I'm sure you'll find much of what you are looking for in The Shops area of our Virtual Garage. Keep the pictures coming!!

Peggy, He offered to pull it up on the trailer and I was ok with it. From what I understand he didn't trailer it himself so that was a first time for him. I would have used my own trailer but given the truck's size my trailer would have only left 1.5 inches on each side because my trailer has rails. So I was not comfortable doing that. I believe the PO was familiar with this site, but I don't think he would have been a poster really. I have heard from a couple of folks that there are a number of VA folks on this site. My son was super excited about making a video with the gopro. We started the youtube channel right after we made that video. Rusty, my 6 yr old daughter and I just got back from Walmart (night before Thanksgiving) We parked way out of course, but I bought this truck to drive and enjoy. Lucas, I'm a big Jeep buff. I have two 1945 CJ2A's and that was my focus before kids. The Gladiator (Rubicon edition) is defiantly capable to tow that truck. In fact we had to go up and over Afton mountain in Charlottesville and it had no issues at all. I am realistic though and know and stay within my limits. I also have the Mopar trailer brake controller installed, though Uhaul does not have active brakes on their trailers just brake away brakes. I think combined with the trailer, I was right at 4000 lbs But I plan to drive this truck as much as possible to where ever we are going.
Some more random pics for those interested. I did some searching online for a radio. Found there are a fair number of options, but if you want the vintage OEM look in a new radio with new features, they are pricy. $750 pricey! and that may not include speakers, antenna etc. I lucked out and found one of these modern feature, OEM style look radios on Ebay for only $125 (non tested). I pulled the trigger and we are going to check it out and hopefully it works. We will do an install thread on it if anyone is interested
Thanks for the warm welcome's and kind words. We are thrilled to get this truck and look forward to making many happy memories with it.
