Does anyone have figures for the height from flywheel surface to top of the clutch cover for a 6-bolt, 11 inch diapharam clutch and the same measurments for a 9-bolt, 10-3/4 in. clutch cover. I'm trying to discover if I can drill a 9-bolt flywheel to take a 6-bolt clutch. I'm concerned the 6-bolt might not fit in the early bell housing as Chevrolet changed bell housings at the same time they changed clutches and flywheels.

Chevrolet used the same throwout bearing from 1938 to 1962 on 216’s and 235’s and more.
The same bearing was used on all clutch sizes.
I don’t have pressure plate samples anymore, but I am sure you will find that the finger height will be the same on all.
This picture is from a 1961 parts book, but the bearing was used for more years than this.

The 9 bolt pressure plate uses a longer throw out bearing like ct22 or ct25. The earliest 6 bolt pressure plates with the flat fingers used the same but if you buy the more modern tall fingered 6 bolt pressure plate it takes the standard short throw out bearing. They all will fit in the bell housing. Thanks
