Welcome Claus, yes there are others here from Germany. I met one of them several years ago on my way from Bayern to Holland. I even presented him with an official Stovebolt flag. You have a Canadian GMC, that's why it has a Chevy engine.

Willkommen Claus,

I checked the list and there has been approximately 50 who have visited this website from your country.
You are currently in moderation so please post several times with questions.
Later you will be able to send private messages to members.
When you post a question please identify your truck (1949 GMC 9300).
One member from Kaiserslautern has asked many questions.

Willkommen Claus,
Ihr LKW is eine Schonheit.
My family came from the Holstein-Schleswig area so you will have to translate my very poor High German into your very acceptable Low German.

Hill Racer, please note that buying, selling, and soliciting for parts is not allowed in the forums. Please look in the swapmeet area and post your needs there. Thanks.

Claus,

My son will be leaving this September or October for his next assignment. He's not yet sure where he's going next. Germany hasn't been a very good experience for my son and his family due to the Covid 19 pandemic and all the lock downs. Unfortunately it was just not a good time to be stationed far away from home.

Our first grand child was born at Ramstein shortly after they arrived. To make matters worse the baby came 3-4 weeks early. It has been very stressful for my daughter in-law with no close family for support.

All of my parts I have purchased from local vendors, swap meets and private citizens here in the US. I have had good luck buying parts from Jim Carter, Classic and LMC all located in the Kansas City area here in the US.

I'm looking forward to seeing a picture of your truck.

Good luck finding your parts.

John

Hello Claus,

I´am from Germany.....located near Kaiserslautern / Mannheim. Good luck with your restoration. If you have any question / problems... poste here...I think you will find good advices and help.

Back to your question about parts:

- "Classic Industries" was previously ok, but the last two years they are very slow to reply for your orders and calculating shipping cost, or they did not reply... I don´t know why.. advantage was: shipping and custom clearens via UPS brings your parts directly and fast (1week) to your door

- LMC: ok. Take a bit longer to get your parts because customs clearens are made at a custom office in your area. Your have to go there to take the parts and pay your custom.

- I found many parts at "ebay" with the "global shipping programm". It takes 2 weeks and you have your parts at your door...easy...

- carburetors parts in US: carbjunkys are good adress

Regards,

Sven

Wonder if he'd enjoy a post in the International Zone forum? There are a number of countries represented there.

(Posted this hear, in case Claus shows back up. wave)

Welcome Claus to the ‘bolt! A few years back, I had the opportunity to visit your beautiful country, when my son had a temporary assignment in Dresden. Myself and my wife did a whirlwind tour of Germany in a little over a week. My favorite was definitely Bavaria. Stunning countryside and great beer! Again, welcome to the forum!
