Hi, I’ve stared at the diagrams in the assembly manual but I can’t tell if the harness runs inside the frame or on top of the frame or on the bottom of the cab. It seems like it starts with a clip at the bottom of the toe board, then runs on top of the frame for a foot or so then moves to the inside but it doesn’t go through a grommet right? Just around the rail to the inside? Unrelated question: what is “ld” and “rd” mean in the assembly manual?

Thank you

LD and RD is left hand drive and Right hand drive. If you are referring to the tail light harness, it appears in the assembly Manual the it runs attached to the cab.

A PO has run mine inside the frame, but now I need to take a closer look for the clips that are spot welded to the cab floor panel.

There were no clips on the bottom of the cab behind the one on the toe-board on my '51. I didn't find a grommet underneath the cab, and believe the wire just went to the inside of the frame channel. The FAM Section 12 Sheet 15.00 shows the various wiring clips that go in the holes in the frame, then a grommet in the rear crossmember and finally a bolt-on clip just before the end of the frame. The FAM shows the 54 configuration of the rear crossmember as a C shape facing forward with a single vertical part, while the earlier years have a crossmember with a "hat" shape. There's a hole in front and back of the vertical parts of the earlier crossmember, so that would lead me to assume that two grommets were necessary.

I saw that too, but it says it’s for a 3102, 3103,3103 & 3112. There appears to be no instruction for the 3100 aside from section 12.1001.

It says 3104, which is the model number for a 1/2 ton pickup.

The practical way is inside the frame rail.

Much appreciated. Just wanted to make sure two pages weren’t sticking together and I was totally missing it. I brought inside the frame rail just after the brake bracket. Seems good.

LOL, Phil's attachment lets me know why I didn't find a wiring clip on the bottom of the cab floor. See attached pic.

You’re absolutely right. Some reason I was thinking 3100, but 3104 is the pickup. My bad! headscratch
