Freshened a very tired 35A generator with new Delco branded pieces. The armature got a fresh solder, bake, and turn. I found a used 1119220C generator controller that turns out to be DOA. The generator has a healthy 1.4xV residual magnetism voltage. Grounding the field lead and slowly increasing rpm shows a progressive increase in voltage. I ended up installing a generic NAPA equivalent controller. Now the system works correctly but I want an original Delco controller.
I would like some good field diagnostics for diagnosing voltage regulator, current regulator, or cut-in relay. The next step would be repair options with a dead controller.
Thank you.
Dave

A Delco-Remy 1119220C is a 12 volt aircraft regulator. It will work on a car or truck, also. Here's one listed on Ebay- - - -used but possibly serviceable.
I can probably diagnose and/or repair the "DOA" unit. Since you've got the minimum number of moderated posts in now, semd me a private message by clicking on my username. I've been working with DC generators and regulators since the early 1960's. Jerry

Here is a copy of a page from the Delco-Remy service manual I've had for about 40 years or more, inherited from Dad's extensive library of reference material. It's not the same part munber, but the circuit is typical of most of the "A" circuit charging systems that use the regulator points as a ground. The "B" circuit supplies voltage to the "F" terminal on the generator and the field coils are grounded inside the generator housing.
