Anyone have a good part number for a lamp that fits the 47-53 but 12v? Looking on Rockauto, the first year they list 12v is 1956. But it would appear the diameter is slightly different.

The bulb glass shape is PAR56
It’s a 7 inch headlight
The 6V is a H6006
The 12v is a H6024

So search the internet for a H6024
And in my opinion Phillips and Sylvania are the only two brands worth considering.
Also careful with old junk yard bulbs they can be full of air and ohm out okay but burn out as soon as power is applied (inside fills with white smoke as the filament burns in the air).

Any reason to replace it pairs or just the one that’s burned out?

I personally like my headlights to look fairly uniform
So I usually buy two at a time
Save the odd ball color for a spare
But I’ve had good luck with the Philips plain Jane H6006 in 6v matching my unknown bulbs in authentic dim yellow lighting.

Back 50 or 60 years ago when people bought head lamps from gas stations people would come in thinking they had blown a fuse. But it turned out both head lights were burned out. It is quite common for both to burn out at the same time. I don't think it is as common any more with halogen bulbs. But on my old vehicles that still have the old head lamps, I replace them in pairs.

I changed just one to an H6024 just to see the difference. Yep, gonna have to do the pair.

I actually thought the old lights were pretty decent. Even the “basic” halogen puts the other to shame.

The old lights are like an outhouse. Pretty decent if that's your only choice. At least better than sharing a bush with about a thousand mosquitoes.

JW51 When I went to our local woods junk yard years ago used 12v head lamps were 1$ each. Saved up several so that is my go to pile,now they're mostly gone from the yard and what you find cost a lot more.

Jon G About right,the old bulbs when you dimmed them would shine right on the white line so you could stay in your lane to get by oncoming traffic. Today the lighting engineers are a mystery,aftermarket bulbs are liable to get you killed so ???
