Is there a brand of body filler that is easier to work with than 3m bondo like you get at Walmart?
I remember seeing some videos on YouTube that looked like it went on easier and smother but I don’t know what brand they were using or it could be my novice body work. My truck is a big bolt, if it was a 1/2 ton I would hire a pro to do it.

I was recommended to use USC All-Metal by a body shop owner. I've used generic brands and they all (including All-Metal) seem to sensitive to base/activator mixing ratio. Not enough hardener and plan on removing it when it doesn't set up completely.

The All-Metal is OK to spread, but can be a pain to sand. I've used Eastwood Contour Finishing Putty (also needs hardener) and I'd rate it just a touch above All-Metal, but it's way more expensive and shouldn't be used except for very small dings.

If you're smart enough to take it apart, you darn well better be smart enough to put it back together.

I am not at home to be 100% sure on the name. Friend of mine who does bodywork had me buy EZ Fill or EZ Sand. Something like that, but I will confirm tonight for you. He loves it cause it can be sanded quickly, and it remains easily sandable once fully cured.

Compared to other fillers this has been a godsend for me. Had to purchase through my local autobody paint supply store. Make sure you know someone who can run it through their account or you will fall over from the price.

If you're having to apply filler more than 1/8" thick , you haven't done enough metal work. Body filler is not a substitute for skill at shaping metal and/or straightening dents.

I used to use Rage Gold. I have absolutely fallen in love with 3M Platinum. Sands like butter!!

Agreed. I'm shooting for 1/16" thick, but a couple spots needed a bit more.

Rage Ultra and 3M Platinum (NOT Platinum Plus) spread and sand super easy. The Platinum is a bit cheaper than Rage Ultra. Never had pinholes in either when mixed properly.
