We had a brief (5 minute) hail storm come through about 10am this morning. Lots of 2” chunks with nice sharp points. The ‘62 C-10 has quite a few hail dents in spite of being much thicker metal than the newer vehicles. No comprehensive coverage on it so we’ll be eating the repair costs.

Mark, thanks for the support. The truck was about 2 weeks from going to the body shop for a repaint. I’m going to have them take care of it at that time. Probably going to be looking for paintless dent repair on a couple of other vehicles. Martin

Update: In the bright morning sun there are quite a few dents I missed yesterday. I would post pictures but my camera won’t show that kind of detail.Top, passenger door and fenders and the hood took some pretty solid hits. The wind was blowing out of the north, truck was parked facing west, so the drivers side and tailgate are ok. Going to cost a few more dollars at the body shop. That’s Oklahoma for you, at least it is still in one place and not sitting in the neighbors pasture.

Martin, you've got a plan and I trust in a few weeks the truck's going to look great. The checkbook will get over the hit...in time. In the mid 2000's I was working a pipeline project in far west Oklahoma, it started at Keys (at the helium plant) and ended near Guymon. I was driving my 10 year old, but still babied red Dodge dually when a thunderstorm came up and it hailed for about 20 minutes, quarter to sightly larger hail was inches deep in the bed and the truck. It looked like,,,,,,,,,,well, hail. I didn't have comp insurance since it'd been long paid off and over the next 15 years most all of the dents disappeared just from the sun and a few due to my attempts with canned air and freon.
Ron, only two of our vehicles have comprehensive coverage the other 3 do not. The oldest (‘39) just has paint damage the ‘65 has a few dents that I may try paintless dent removal on. As I said the ‘62 C-10 was in the que for the Body Shop but the guy called this morning and put it on hold until business slows down again. Our main drivers 2014 and 2016 are both pretty beat up. It’s not our first rodeo so we will get er done.
