I went to Advance Auto, OReilly's and NAPA with NAPA being the only source (of these 3) that could locate one and it's in Boston. The guy wasn't even sure that it was the one that I need and shipping cost (about $12.00) is not refundable. I really don't want to take it apart unless I have what I need to put it back together. Otherwise I'd get the old one out and try and cross reference it. That's when I thought what the heck, I'll just install an adapter so I don't have this hassle in the future. Rather than inquire again at the auto parts stores, I thought I'd just do my own research online. Many different brands, several styles and prices out there.
My biggest concern was I came across an article in a forum (not Stovebolt) that said the adapter for the truck engine is not the same as one used on a typical sbc. Is this true? I did notice that the canister on my truck looks way larger than the one I remember having on my '67 Chevelle with a 283.
FYI: I did search this topic before posting but didn't find the answer to my specific question.

There was a 1 1/2 quart canister filter that was used on some of the bigger trucks that used a taller filter cartridge, but it was the same diameter as the passenger car item. If you want to remove the cartridge to check for a part number, nothing would prevent you from either reinstalling the old filter, or simply replacing the empty canister until you can source a correct cartridge. The engine won't know the difference. Jerry

Rock Auto had an actual part number listed online and O"Reilly has one here in Omaha. It's described as a 2-quart filter. I'll post the part number if it's the correct replacement.

It takes the 51503 filter that was posted. I got one from Amazon for about $15.

The big truck spin-on was an AC 932 I think but they fit all the Chevy V8's. Summit also had them when I needed it.

The truck is outside, so I'm waiting for the weather to improve. No part number on either.
Thanks for all the replies.
