I collect all my used oil in a 55 gallon drum, that includes cooking oil. Then trade it for an empty one at one of our small local garages.
Several of them around here heat their shops with used oil.

It depends on where you take it. You might check with the place you take your waste oil. They might want it separately. We have free haz waste disposal here, including paint and various household chemicals.

The only thing they don't want is ethylene glycol in it. Brake fluid doesn't make any difference. The waste oil gets used as bunker oil. That is what ships burn once they get out on open water. Of course, I am in Texas and we are regulated by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. I own a couple of gas stations, a dozen trucks and was a licensed salvage dealer for many years. I get audited quite regularly. | | |
