Please assist to identify the following items on my 52. I know one is a terminal block left side wheel well but is there a specific name for it as I need to order one (from where?), and the other photo I believe a vacuum line goes to it??
My question for the third are the emergency cups….where they an option or did they come on a certain model, ie. logging truck; delivery truck?
I can tell you from what I’ve found out. Mine is a VV 6100 2T Platform…I believe.
Thnx for the help.

1.) Terminal strip - for headlights, horns etc. Isolated from the metal fender.
https://www.classicparts.com/1947-54-Headlamp-Terminal-Block-4-Terminal/productinfo/48-816
2.) Possible PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) Valve. Need more pictures.
It also could be a check valve for the optional Hydrovac (maybe RPO 281) brakes booster (big trucks).
3.) Roadside Emergency Kerosene-Pots. They were available at local parts stores.

Probably for the PVC as I followed it and it’s behind front wheel.
The Other newer black hose you see is hooked up to the wiper motor. Not even sure if that’s where it would go(?).

I lean toward a vacuum operated brake boost picture 2 above. Attached is a photo of a PCV set up for a 261 I found and cleaned up (for the curious).

First pic: end would attach to manifold.

The #2 pic is of the check valve for the power brake Hydrovac booster, it would be plumbed with full manifold vacuum, the steel 1/2" line should go down to the frame rail and terminate at a booster.

Save the check valve because it may be hard to find.
If you are satisfied with your brakes, you may not need Hydrovac.

Well, now that it’s identified (valve),I will leave it as is. The other new black line I have it hooked to the wiper motor….is this correct? It is a vacuum and the wipers work somewhat…but that’s for another day.
#4 question: I read on the TechTips that the oil canister should be Blue for this year, correct?
Sorry for all the questions, but I figured I’d ask here while it’s an under the hood topic.
Thnx again!

The filter cannister color depends on whether you have an AC or Fram. I believe the AC was blue with an orange top. I used Federal Safety Blue on mine with Rustoleum Orange on the lid. Mine is an S-2 AC filter housing, and was originally blue/orange.

The black hose is a little big for the wiper vacuum motor. Did you use an adapter to reduce the size?
It really doesn't matter as long as there are no vacuum leaks.

Beginning 1950 AC oil canisters were blue with orange lid. I have read that the canisters installed at the factory were black with white lettering.
Fram was orange bottom and black lid. Oil canisters were optional. Some trucks came from the factory without one.
Sometimes the owner added one later. Oil canisters can be repainted to almost any color.

I added a picture of a 1 ton with Hydrovac. The wiper vacuum connection, Hydrovac and check valve may be connected together in a distribution block.

Yes, I did use an adapter to reduce the size.
Yes, I did read the TechTips on the oil canisters. Mine is AC…..I will repaint mine Safety Blue also. Just making sure what I read was correct.
I appreciate the help on my questions.
Thnx!

Never mind all that. Who painted the Load Master script on the valve cover?! Wow!! What was the lettering modeled after. It is hard to find any original pictures of this script as well as the Thrift Master script.

The large rubber hose from the manifold going into the firewall was originally a route for the Hydrovac, that hose should go to the check valve and a second hose from the atmospheric side of the Hydrovac should go through the firewall to a round horsehair filter. Some of those items could be missing and we can't see the whole set-up.

For now the Hydrovac is Not being used. The large newer hose shown I hooked up, ran it through firewall and put an adapter on it running to Wiper motor.
No plans on hooking up Hydrovac unit. Not pulling heavy loads or anything like that. At least I now know what it is for and what gets routed for the Hydrovac.
Thank u!

Ok, another uneducated question as the old truck is all new to me.
What oil am I putting in this truck?
I checked the TechTips and didn’t find anything on it, and my manual does show SAE-30 but I want to make sure as I do not want to damage any internals.
Didn’t know if the SAE-30 can be substituted with another.
Bear with me, I’m learning.
Thnx!
I do know the motor was “redone” around 2013/14. I do not know how many miles it has gone since or oil changes.
Did a search and found Some have used Rotella diesel oil; others straight SAE-30 and 10w-30. Detergent and non-detergent. I guess I should be asking, what is recommended?

Please start a new thread for each separate question. I’m going to lock this thread since you got your answers. Please post your oil questions in the Engine Shop Forum. Thanks
