Hey everyone, I'm new to the site and I look forward to helping out where I can.
I am currently employed as a mechanic at the local GM Dealer. I have my own small shop where I work on my toys.
I have owned a 1949 Chevy 3100 that I sold a few years ago. I turned the wrenches on it and did all the fabrication work too.
I now just purchased a 1948 Chevy 2 ton COE short wheelbase winch truck. The truck was owned and used by my Great Uncle. He used to have a garage and that truck was used a lot in my local area. I have heard stories of him pulling a tractor out of a creek, pulling a school bus that slid into the ditch in the middle of winter.
My plan is to get it running and driving again. I hope to be able leave it all stock, but if I find it is too far gone, I am prepared to swap the body and bed to a different frame.

Small town called Dundas. It's about 30 minutes S.E of Effingham
White squirrel country there! Welcome, there is an unbelievable amount of knowledge in these forums. I've been helped here more times than I can count! Nice COE you have there, will be a fun project.
Nice looking truck, with hood ornament. I like the short wheelbase with winch. I hope you are able to keep it stock. My father-in-law was from Southern Illinois. I guess any place south of Effingham fits that designation, including Salem, where he was from.
