Just recently joined the Bolt. New to this, and totally computer illiterate.

Anyhoo, I am in the process of bringing back to life a 1950 3100 Chevy that has been in the family since brand new. My uncle purchased the truck in May 1951, using it as his daily driver until somewhere abound 1975. At that time, he quit licensing the truck and just used it on the farm to drive the log roads and check the timber (240 acre farm).

Then around 2000, he graciously signed the title over to me and let me bring the truck home. Aside from some skinned places on the right fenders, the truck was solid -- I don't think it had ever spent the night outside in the time he owned it.

Life has a way of getting in the way of us doing what we want to do, so I am just now getting the truck ready to hit the road again. My goal is to bring it back to as near factory-new condition as I can.

Motor had been rebuilt, new paint (Forest Green), new brakes, Okie joint in the driveshaft housing, new wood going in the bed, seat re-uphostlered. Hopefully by mid-to-late summer, it will be on the road.

Glad to have found the forums, and hope to learn much from those who have more experience with the 'Bolts than I. I already have garnered some good information from reading post in here, and will be glad to share any of my limited knowledge if it will be helpful in the future.

Jim, welcome to the Stovebolt and thanks for sharing your story with us. Its great you have the truck and keep it in the family. The AD style is very popular around here but then I guess all old Chevy and GMC trucks are to us.
As a Texan your a member of the "Texas Connection". Be sure to watch for them and to check out the Texas forum as well.
We are here to help so any questions you may have just post them in the best garage forum for your question and we'll do the rest.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

True that very few vehicles have been in one family for 72 years. Lord willing, when I go on to my final reward, it will go to my "bonus" son ( I absolutely detest the word Step-son). He is as interested in working on the truck as I am. Looking forward to learning and sharing here on the Forum.

Welcome from Dallas. I've only had my truck about 50 years.

Hello Jim, I'm looking forward to seeing some pics. Have your "Bonus Son" sign up as well. We need all the younger ones we can get.

Welcome to the Stovebolt
