I am having no luck finding an original parking brake setup for my 52 GMC. It looks like only a couple parts are repopped. I need everything from the foot pedal and brake release all the way back. What are alternatives that have been used?
Do you still have the E-brake parts in the rear axle? There is a universal brake handle and cable available that pivots and locks in both the on and off position by rocking "over center" against a spring in both modes. There is an adjustment screw built into the knob for fine tuning the application force. I think some Jeeps used it- - - -specifically the military M-151 I once owned. My 65 Dodge D-100 pickup also used that type of parking brake.
Used ones are available for considerably less. Jerry

Yes I have the parts in the rear drums and the rod that goes across the frame. Where would that brake assembly on ebay mount? On the floor? Saw a pedal assy from a 70 blazer too, wonder if that would work
The Blazer one should work. I used the pedal from a '71 GMC pickup. (push with foot to set - pull to release)
I mounted it between the dash and firewall. It was just the right length to fit. Requires drilling holes in the firewall for the mounting bolts and the cable. Also drill hole in underside of dash for front bolt.
When installed, the pedal is higher than stock, so you have to lift your leg up more than I would prefer in order to set the brake. Other than that, it works OK.
