Does anyone know the "modern" part number or source for the plugs/caps/welch plugs that are on top and bottom of king pin that you stake in after a king pin service?
Or have a few laying around they want to get rid of?

I have the full kit but need a couple of replacements and don't want to buy a whole new king pin kit just to get a couple of caps.

Exact model is a 1956 3200 Chevrolet.

Measure them and take them to your FLAPS and check what they have for dished freeze plugs. That's essentially what they are. The slight dish shape allows them to expand in diameter after you install them by flattening them a bit with a hammer.

I've made those dished plugs from flat steel about .080" thick. Cut/grind a circle of metal about 1/32" bigger than the recessed counterbore it needs to fit and dish it with a ball peen hammer and a socket in an arbor press until it's a close slip fit. Secure it with a firm tap to the center with a hammer.
