Hello,
I know this is a long shot since there weren't many duallys made with pickup beds, but when I found my truck it did not have rear fenders. Does anyone have dually fenders for sale? I'll probably have to make my own, but I can't even find a picture of another dually pickup except this spec page:
http://www.brads41-46chevys.com/id22.html
I looked through all the pictures in the gallery and couldn't even find another one. If you know where I can find a picture or if you have some for sale, please, please let me know.

Thanks,
Bob

Woog and speed, that truck doesn't look like a "real" dually. It looks like someone just stuck duals on a single rear wheel truck. Hence the improper front hubs and the single wheel rear fenders.

Curt, I have seen one in the 'wild'. 1 1/2 ton, the beds must have been made by an outside vender, they do look different, but they were real!
The last I knew it was for sale, came with a very prestine 1 1/2 parts truck. Located in wine country, northern california.
Bob, you could probably made the fenders. The ones I saw were pretty simple with a rolled bead at the edge....Good Luck

Check out, www.oldchevytrucks.com , click into "working trucks", catagory to see an original 1946 1 1/2 ton dually pickup. There was also a single rear wheel version. It's one in the same "working trucks" catagory. These were factory built trucks.

Maybe you could modify some standard ones.

Keep an eye on these:

N Cal Calvin,

Do you have any contact info (phone, email, etc.) for the guy in Northern California that had the trucks for sale?

InMy40's,

Thanks for the link, but the sale had already ended. I'll keep my eyes open for some more to modify.

Thanks

$500 seems like a pretty penny for something you're going to "modify", and could very well goof up.

So you actually have one of these trucks, just sans fenders?

You might wanna check into the repro stuff, or have a metal fabricator make you some.. not a whole lot to a '40's rear fender.

an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

Yes, I have one and I'm real excited about restoring it.

Do you know of any repros made of steel? So far, the only ones I've seen were fiberglass. For me, anyway, the steel ones would be easier to modify for the wider width.

Otherwise, I've been thinking that if I have to make some, my best bet might be to find another set of 1-1/2 or 2 ton "front" fenders (with the larger wheel opening), cut them parallel to the outside face, and then weld a strip of steel along the inside edge, wide enough for the duals. It's hard to explain in print, but I think it might work. I'm thinking front fenders just because they seem to be more available (and less money) than any size rears. Any thoughts or other ideas?

Thanks again for all the help,
Bob

http://www.mar-k.com makes various pieces of the bed out of steel.

not sure if they have fenders for your truck or not though.

The truck mentioned on brad's '41-'46 Chevies has a '50's style bed on it. I have a 1 1/2 ton dually pickup and a 1 1/2 ton single rear wheel pickup and a bunch of original ads for these beds and pictures of them. There is even one in the Jim Carter's catalog. N Cal Calvin, can you send my some info too on the bed in CA?
