So I've been slowly working on my '53 3/4 ton and have become slightly stumped. Did the 1953 Chevrolet 3/4 ton truck come with an external resistor or an internal resistor for the ignition coil? I didn't see a resistor on the firewall so I purchased an internally resisted coil but, it is to big for the original coil bracket. Any thaughts would be appreciated.

53 trucks where 6 volt. They didn't have or need a resistor. You need a 6 volt coil. But if your truck has been converted to 12 volt then you're going to need a resistor, or an internal resistor coil.

Hey that's great! I'm keeping the 6V for now till I hear it run...if it runs. Thank you for the insight.
