I was just wondering if there were two '61 styles. I saw a picture of what they said was a '61, but it had a hood like a '60. Then there was a picture of a '61 that had a hood like a '62. Was there a style change mid-year like '47 and '55? Thanks.

People like to play fast and loose with hood swapping.

You are a little mixed up there...........a 1961 should have a hood like a 60..same hood. Cat Eye hood was two year only. 62-66 have "new" style. The hoods are interchangeable from 60-66. There were several changes made to various parts. The Cat Eye became unavailable to collision repair shops. So they, and owners, put on a 62-66 hood. Those 60-61 hoods are rare today.

When you ask about 47.1/47.2 and 55.1/55.2 you are talking a complete redesign. Changing hood. headlights, grill, emblems or seat material are not that type.

The 60-66 went thru some fairly large changes: in 1963 torsion bar front was changed to coil springs. Various suspension changes followed. In 1964, wrap-around windshield was changed to flat. To name a few. The Chevy trucks are broken down into I.E. 47.2-55.1, 55.2-59, 60-66, 67-72...... according to basic style and platform. All had various "improvements" within the style and platform. The splits were determined by complete redesign.

OK. I wasn't trying to be technical. Just trying to find something somewhat similar for the pictures I saw on-line. I know all about the complete redesigns in '47 and '55. Been working on Advanced Designs for over 30 years.

Maybe your question is also answered by adding; the 60 and 61 parking light bezel/parking light grill were different between the years. Gives those 2 hoods a different look.

Also '61 had the series emblem on the hood where "60 was on the fender.

I bought a C60 truck to get a a spare hood a few years back, owner wanted same price for hood as truck.
