I am thinking of putting everything back in except the 235. What are going to be the challenges to doing this? I would think putting everything in will tell me where to mount the new sbc? I have a new bell housing, but the fork is on the other side, do I just need a mount for arm?

Hy MuddButtBaits, the 1960 through 63 trucks used a hydraulic clutch, so you will need the clutch slave cylinder off of the 235 if you ever had it. The front engine mount is a horseshoe shaped piece that bolts to the front of the engine and uses a single mount to a frame bracket which projects from the front crossmember if I'm remembering correctly, hope that helps.

You will need a V-8 bellhousing specific to a 60-62 truck because of the hydraulic clutch system. V-8 bellhousings from other years with the fork on the left side will not work. Nothing from the 235 engine will change over to the V-8. You will also need a V-8 flywheel, throttle linkage, exhaust system, hoses, pulleys, etc. As 3B stated the front mount is also specific to those years. There may be an aftermarket conversion kit available.

How does the church or pedal know where the arm should go? The bellhousing firs the v8, but hits a little on the tranny. Read guys just remove what is hitting. New clutch, for the new bellhousing, I would think this will all work? The tranny has no idea what is a head of it, right? I do have the front horse shoe mount. Almost want to weld in side mounts after I figure out where it needs to be. The v8 is 6" shorter then the 235.

Unless someone has changed it, the pedal actuates the master cylinder (that is included with the brake master cylinder) which engages the slave cylinder on the right side of the bellhousing. V-8's and 6 cylinder vehicles of your vintage were designed this way. Other years had a pedal that actuated some linkage to engage the clutch arm on the left side of the bellhousing. I suppose you could fabricate some linkage or find some from a later vehicle to accomplish this feat. It sounds like you know how to make it work.

The slave cylinders are available but made in China, three have failed on me!
