We have done maybe 50 LS swaps and most are so pleased with the increased power, smoothness, and fuel economy they think no further. This is for the "More Power" crowd. Replace the GM Induction and Controls with the Holley Terminator system. Difference is astounding. Just done a 6.0 aluminum Camaro/Corvette engine into a 3800 pound 70 Cutlass and it puts our 68 426 Elephant Hemi Plymouth to shame. The Plymouth gets 9-10mpg and the Olds will probably get over 15.

What do you use for tuning on the GM controls? I ask because I have done several (6?) of these swaps into various vehicles so far and ended up happier with the GM controls than any of the aftermarket systems.

To get that, the tune had to be specific to *that* vehicle setup. If you are buying an off the shelf tune vs using the self-learning system on the aftermarket controls, I could see the difference swinging the other way.

We use EFI Live for our tuning. My long-term test bed is my daily driver with about 20k miles on the swap. It is an 84 f**d, but I get a solid 20mpg on the highway and 16mog in town. I couldn't be happier with the swap.

Once you go holley terminator you wont want to ever look at stock GM electronics again. Its just so simple and easy to use. I just fired up a new build on holley last night. I had to correct one rookie mistake that the owner did and it fired up first shot……just like all the other holley cars ive done. I have also done stock ecu stuff with good luck. My 49 gmc being one of them. The only issue with stock stuff is you need to “trick” everything to get it to do what you want and also need to own efi live or HPtuners and buy credits to tune it. Just remember…..stock ecu is a emission computer. Thats its job. The holley stuff is a performance computer. It does what its told.
