Hy Alainfrenchie54, I think we have not responded because we don't know what will be available to you in France. If you would like us to tell you what is available in North America and where to purchase it, just let us know. Electric fuel pumps are divided into two basic groups, low pressure for carbureted engines and high pressure for fuel injected engines, the high pressure pumps divide again into two categories, in fuel tank submersible type and outside the tank pumps. Is the pump you are seeking information on for a carbureted engine?

If you are looking for a recommendation for a electric fuel pump, and have access Carter products, the Carter P4070 is a good option. Free output pressure 4-6 which is good for single bbl carb and thus does not need a regulator. the pump is self regulating presssure wise and uses the fuel as a coolent so they tend to be very reliable. One thing, you will need to install is a fuel filter between the tank and pump. Because the Carter 4070 uses the fuel internally to cool itself, if you pock up any junk from the tank, it will jam the pump up so you want to install a filter to keep that from happening. You should also consider wiring in a Carter fuel pump pressure swtich and a fuel pump electric relay to keep the system and your truck safe and sound.

Have been using a the 6 volt version of that Carter fuel pump (4259) for about 9 years now, and it has been working well. At 6 psi, it does not overpower the needle and seat in my Zenith carburetor.

Pump

As mentioned, make sure to use a pre-pump filter. I am currently running this one, made by Holley. It filters down to 100 microns, so it will keep the bad stuff out of the pump, but not cause too much of a restriction.

Filter

It is a little pricey, but it is well made and you can disassemble it to clean it - so it will be the last one you will ever buy. I converted the truck's frame mounted filter to pleated paper, to trap the small debris before it hits the carburetor.

I still have the mechanical fuel pump on the engine, but it is non functional and is just there to simplify fuel line connections. The insides have been gutted and a block out plate and gasket have been installed between the two halves.

As also mentioned, for safety, you should ALWAYS install some type of pump cutoff circuit, to ensure the pump stops whenever the engine is not running.

Best Regards...

Another good 6V option - the Airtex E8902. It's fuel pressure range is ideal at 2.5-4.5 psi which is right at the factory spec for the 216/235/261s, and better handled by some vintage carbs. The pump comes packaged with an inlet fuel filter, and fittings are sized for 5/16" fuel line. The E8902 has been hard to find recently - not sure if Airtex has discontinued that model, or simply a supply issue - but RockAuto has 'em. Airtex E8902.

For vehicles that are originally 12V, or converted, Airtex E8251 has similar specs, 2.5-4.5psi fuel pressure, but does not come with a fuel filter. WIX 33046 is similar to the filter Airtex provides with its other models, has a 5/16" hose barb inlet, and works well with the pump. If a hardline install is desired, WIX has a similar filter that uses a 5/16" inverted flare inlet. Airtex E8251 and WIX 33046.

Alternate filter for 5/16 inverted flare inlet: WIX 33081. Both of the WIX filters are available NAPA branded - just drop one "3" at the beginning of the part number.

The RockAuto listing for the E8251 has a pretty good video from Airtex showing the installation of the fuel pump and a three-terminal oil pressure safety switch, Airtex P/N OS75. That part cross references to NAPA P/N A0014Q, or Delphi P/N FA0004 which was used on a variety of GM products from the '70s to early '90s, including Chevy trucks, and is available at most FLAPS. Installation Video for Fuel pump and Oil Pressure Switch.
