Lots of work on Brad's part ... pure enjoyment (and references) for you!
| | THANKS!
For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2004 Posts: 105 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2004 Posts: 105 | I have an original 1950 3600 and my boy and I are redoing the brakes. The rear drums were shot so I found a couple of replacements at the truck shops (the ones that only sell parts for these trucks) for $150 each. Just too much to spend. Well I did a lot of research and found that the Raybestos 2009R drums meant for 1953 up looked dimensionally correct. I ordered two and THEY FIT. They don't look stock like the Huck brake drums but they fit just fine and they are only $47 each from Rockauto. 1/3 the price for the same ones from the specialty truck shops. I hope others find this useful to make fixing these old trucks more affordable.
Let me know if this is old news. To me it seems like something the suppliers have not shared.

I figured just sticking with the original was easier and cheaper. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2020 Posts: 148 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2020 Posts: 148 | What was the source for the front drums? I've got to replace mine and the front are hard to find. Rears I got through NAPA (paid $50 for one and $100 for the other, go figure), they're apparently made in Provo, Utah. | | | | | Joined: May 2004 Posts: 105 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2004 Posts: 105 | Ebay but that was a few years ago. | | |
