Adding an electric wiper (and also a USB charger port which is kind of related) to my 12 volt system, and just wondering if there's an optimal place to splice these into the system?

I don't have any kind of fuse panel... Wiper has an online fuse. And while I assume I could probably splice it in anywhere that's hot when the key is on just wondering whether there is a best practice.

Probably overthinking.

The load side of the ammeter is my first choice, just remember to disconnect the battery first.

Maybe it's time to add some accessory wiring/wiring panel.

Couple of things to think about. The USB charger you may want to be on the un-switched side of you ignition. This way you can charge your phone without burning out your coil or points/condenser or running the engine. It should also be fused.

The wiper should go on the switched side of you ignition switch and also be fused.

Personally, I would install a fuse box (as MNSmith suggested) that has the ability to have switched and un-switched circuits. Take the switched side from the load side of the Ammeter (as Wheelie suggested) and the switched side from the ignition switch. This way you can add other circuits as you need.

If you don’t want to add a fuse box, just wire it to the points that were pointed out before.
