I scored a nice looking 4 speed transmission out of a 2 wheel drive 67 C20 pickup.
They should both be SM420's.

Question: Will I be able to use that transmission in my 4 wheel drive 67 K20 Suburban that (allegedly) has an SM420 and a Rockwell 221 Transfer case?

I'm assuming that the output shaft cover will need to be changed over from the 4wd trans to the 2wd trans.

Ideas?

output shaft may be different also. What trans do you have, and what did you get? SM420?

I just edited my post. They "should" both be SM420's.

420’s terminated in ‘67/68 or so except for some military applications so you might have a 420 or a 465, might be best to make that determination first.

420’s never came with attached transfer cases, however 465’s did. Novak in SLC have adapters and parts to attach transfer cases for 420’s. If you have a 465, best to sell it and get one with main shaft for one with transfer case. I have a 465 for 205 transfer case if you would like a pc.

Thanks Ed, both trucks are 67's. The "new" tranny out of the C10 has about 1/2" of grease and muck on it so I haven't pulled any part numbers off it yet.

Show a picture requires no labor, showing the aft end.
