The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop Distributor cap hold down clip

Helping a friend on his 58 Apache, 235. Replacing points, and the clip towards the front of the truck that holds distributor cap down is broken off. How is it held on and can it be replaced or do you have to replace entire unit. Hard to see what is down there and thought this would save me some time. Thanks for any help. Bill

Same thing happened to me. You can find them online. It takes a bit of searching.

Going to local scrap yard. Good friend is owner so will get entire distributor and practice on work bench instead of in engine compartment.

Bill Trotter If it wasn't so far could just give you some,you'll get it though .To tighten just bow the clip ! Or lot better get HEI flame thrower while at the junkyard,that is the best !! good luck !

I have a ‘52 3100 with a ‘59 235 and my clip has a screw to hold to to the distributor as seen in the picture. The distributor may be from a ‘52, but I think they are both the same.
