I'm sending all my brake shoes to be relined but the recliner doesn't have a reference for the parking brake linings. Does anyone know the thickness for those shoes? Chevy part number is 3696497.

Go to the GM Heritage Center site for this info...page 146.

I already checked there, unfortunately the lining thickness isn't given.

Go back and revisit Spec page 146 (which is page 89 of 117 in the file). The front and rear linings thicknesses before grinding are clearly listed...

OK, my bad for not reading your post correctly dang

I did a little research and found that your Dual Shoe drum and shoes (Group 5.610 in the parts books) are the same from 1951 to at least 1967. Knowing this I randomly looked at the 1959 Spec found at the GM Heritage Center and found the thickness listed on their page 52 of 83.

Sorry for the confusion...

Not sure if you got the answer to your parking brake lining question. On older WW2 vintage parking brakes, the lining is made out of something other than the material used on the brake shoes, see image. Perhaps yours is similar?

Thanks Mike, I didn't think to check other years. It's odd that those dimensions aren't listed in the 54-55 book. Go figure???
Thank you too paul, that is a completely different type of brake mechanism but I appreciate the picture.
