More information than you probably wanted, my plan is to get is safetied and plated then use it as is. I will be using to haul my blacksmithing stuff to the local museum when I do my metal working demonstrations there. I will also use it for scouting and generally as a truck. If I go in parades, I loaded up a bunch scouts, cubs and beavers in the box, haul a parade float behind. Kind of like the "follow me boys" movie.
I am looking for the safety specifications for brake lining thickness, does anyone know what they are? I am also looking for the rear emergency brake cables, they would be the Chev 3800 equivalent, I have not been able to find any so far.

Those are beautiful photos of a great truck. You have the motor that was made from 1950 to 52. I have the same one in my 1951 1 Ton. There are some places that can make new parking brake cables if you have the hardware. You might want to give Bill at Bills Truck a call.
