Thank you so much for the awesome amount of information on your site. I have recently (last saturday) purchase the following:
1952 Canadian GMC 9430 Pickup Long box (with a Robin hydraulic dump)
Vehicle serial number 2943415032
6 cylinder in-line possibly 216 cubic inch (3.5L)
Engine code XC600988 eng block casting numberGM 3835814 (216 CID)
Cyl head casting number 3835499 (made for 235 CID)
Carburetor Rochester 1 barrel no numbers so far

Transmission casting number GM 591907
Differential Casting number 8699535

Body# 1286
Trim # 394
Paint # 236
Battery 6 volt
Generator Wilson Elec Winnipeg #1100018 6V A.E.

4 Spd standard transmission
Robin 2-ram hydraulic dump box (factory installed)

tires 7.50-17 6 ply original (LT 265/75R16 presently on the truck)

More information than you probably wanted, my plan is to get is safetied and plated then use it as is. I will be using to haul my blacksmithing stuff to the local museum when I do my metal working demonstrations there. I will also use it for scouting and generally as a truck. If I go in parades, I loaded up a bunch scouts, cubs and beavers in the box, haul a parade float behind. Kind of like the "follow me boys" movie.

I am looking for the safety specifications for brake lining thickness, does anyone know what they are? I am also looking for the rear emergency brake cables, they would be the Chev 3800 equivalent, I have not been able to find any so far.

Any help would be appreciated
James Stonehouse

Welcome to the 'bolt. That is almost the perfect "welcome forum" post! Lots of info and pictures.
Please put your parts requests in the swap meet area, as that is the only place to buy, sell or swap parts.

Another quality post.

Those are beautiful photos of a great truck. You have the motor that was made from 1950 to 52. I have the same one in my 1951 1 Ton. There are some places that can make new parking brake cables if you have the hardware. You might want to give Bill at Bills Truck a call.

Welcome to the site. I agree with getting any parts you may need from Bill Peeters at Bill's Truck Shop near Oshawa. Good luck and enjoy the journey.

Welcome to the Stovebolt and congrats on your purchase. Trucks have a way of "paying their way" while cars are an abcess on a man's pocket book!!!
See you around the garage forums.
