I have a 48 Chevy 4100 Load Master which needs all new tires. I have called many tire places on the island and some say they can change the tires on a snap ring rim but not a 2 piece suicide rim. I was wondering what I have exactly. I thought a two piece/snap ring rim was the same as a suicide rim. Maui does not have many choices to get tires changed so I hope I'm not S.O.L. There is a difference, suicide rims are made in 2 halves that split dowm the middle. They will fly apart and hurt you. most truck tire shops won't touch them. One local tire shop will change them, but bolts them on the truck before airing them up,that way if they fly apart the truck gets torn up not the tireman. The "snap ring" rims and the firestone type rims that use a one piece locking ring are much safer and any decent tireman can change these without a problem....
