I've gotten to working on my front brakes/hub assemblies on the 1955 2 ton and I have a bad front hub assembly. My inner bearing cup is loose in the bore. It looks like at some point the cup had spun inside the hub bore. Someone attempted to stake the bore in the past by the look of it. So I am searching for a replacement.
Does anyone have a good front hub assembly lying around that they would sell ?
Ed. The bore is a mess. Including the bore that the seal presses into. I wanted to try find a good replacement before getting the lathe going. Ed If you are interested in selling one of your hubs maybe send me a private message and we can see if the part is the same and work out the details.
Asking for parts wanted in the tech section is really frowned on...so lets just figure out what part number you need here and then you can take buying and selling to the Swap Meet Section or via PM with sellers.
Hy Noonan and guys, could you clarify if the truck in question is a 1955 "A" or first series or a 1955 "B" or second series? The hub casting number Mike B requested would also be helpful. If you could post the trucks serial number that would also be helpful.
Hy Noonan, a quick check of one of my parts books that covers up to the 55"B" series yielded your casting number as a part number for a new part for the 16 series and the 18 series (L.C.F.). I have one of these trucks, still partially assembled, kind of difficult to access at the moment. I will see how much of a hassle it will be to work on if the weather cooperates.

The part number for the 4-3/4" flanged hub is 3704489.

Mike, thank you for the information. I forgot to confirm the wheel center hole when I was in the shop today, I will have to check that. It will most likely correspond with what your parts books are showing for the casting number.
My dad and I spent the day spinning the hub on the lathe we made a sleeve and pressed it into place and we machined that to size. turned out really well.
Thanks for everyone's help I won't be needing another hub for the time being.
Unless the wear in the casting is REALLY sloppy, Loctite green "Stud and Bearing Mount" can fill gaps up to about .015". I've used it pretty frequently for this exact type of situation with a good success rate. Jerry
