I have a 54 GMC and I have been doing an online search for a cover for the lower cab rear wall shine the seat. This seems to be an area the aftermarket/repop guys have not touched. Has anyone found one or fabbed one? I am thinking of doing one out of plastic/ABS. I would like to cover the rear wall and hide the insulation/sound deadened.

Get some Formica! Easy to form with heat.

I used the same black carpet that I have on the floor of my 49 and attached it to the cab wall ribs. May not be the best solution but it works for me.

NDKid I was thinking Formica as well I may have to get a piece and play around with it. Olezippi the carpet looks pretty good. Did you use snaps to hold it in place?

I used screws and washers

I used the same carpet I used on the floor as well, glued in place, over a couple layers of insulation. Formica is just one more hard surface to reflect sound as opposed to absorbing it. Formica may look great vut, it will not help to quiet it down at all. Depends on what your desired outcome is.

I used sound deadening everywhere and used Formica for the roof and in place of the door cardboard. If it’s behind a seat or mostly covered, is it really going to block sound? Put something under it. It only cost me about 50-$60 for a 4x8 sheet at Home Depot. It’s cheap if you don’t like the outcome.

Sound deadener reduces metal vibration that causes noise. So, yes. It won't block it, but it reduces it.

I was thinking to use sound dead behind it and the cover with Formica or another cover that looks good. Not just a cover.

Does anyone have any pictures of what some Formica looks like installed.
I have noticed that there are several commercial products available if you do a web search for "Street rod rear cab cover"
Thanks
