Any recommendations on a proper fit for a 5 or 6 speed manual transmission to go behind my 350 SBC? It's going in my 1951 Chevrolet 3100 on a 1987 S10 frame.

I know of the T5 and the T56, but I'm not sure if there are other or even better choices. (I'm not a transmission guy if you can't tell, but I'm learning!)

4, 5, or 6 speed doesn't really matter- - - - - -that shifter is just a toy to play with. A 350 has a wide enough torque band that anything over 3 speeds with about a 3.30:1 rear end gear is just going to give your right arm and left leg a little more exercise- - - - -AKA "Rowing it with the shift lever"! Buy an automatic transmission and cut the pockets out of your pants!

LOL!

American Powertrain

They have what you are looking for. 5 or 6 Speed, built to handle what ever and they have a 24 hr tech line. Could give them a call and tell them your specs and what you want and they will set you up.

My brother had a T56, 6 Speed with two OD's behind his built 350 bored .060 over and it has held up very well. Only issue he ever had turned out to be the Centerforce clutch. He had towed many a vehicle on his trailer without issues with it.

Depends on rear end gears, and what you want to use it for
If lots of highway cruising, nice to keep your rpm’s down for fuel consumption and noise

I have American Powertrains aluminum bell housing to mount my TKO 600 on my 292. It's rated the same as steel Quick Time bells.
