For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2019 Posts: 449 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2019 Posts: 449 | Standard trim, grill is off-white. What color were the "Chevrolet" letters embossed in the grill? Were they painted black or not? I can't really tell by looking at '65 brochure.
Thank you

Looking at a 66 brochure, painted grills had the letters paint black. Cant be sure that the artists who put the brochure together doctored the grills to make the name stand out. I am not the expert, but just an input until a more definitive answer emerges. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2018 Posts: 71 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2018 Posts: 71 | On page 265 of "60 Years of Chevrolet" by George H. Dammann is a picture of a 1965 C10 with black lettering on a chrome grill and a picture of a panel with a with an all white grill and no black lettering. Looking through the different years, the pattern seems to be that the black lettering was reserved for the Deluxe optioned trucks with chrome trim and bumpers.

One thing very few people seem to get right is the paint details on the front of these trucks. Check out the GM Heritage Center website if you want to know how these trucks were originally built. https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-heritage-archive/Chevrolet_Trucks/1965_Chevrolet_Truck_FL.htmlAlso, when looking at brochure pictures, keep in mind they often airbrushed the same pictures from previous years to update details such as emblems, grill inserts, door panels etc. that changed year to year. This is very common in the 1970's brochures. Pictures in the accessories sections of the brochures usually weren't updated yearly, since they were there to illustrate the accessory, not necessarily the yearly changes.
