Hello,
New member here. I have a 1937 gmc truck I really need to get going on. It was bought new by my great uncle, my dad was second owner and I have it now. It’s been painted one time in late 70s all original otherwise. It has been sitting in garage for twenty years. I am looking to get started on truck and get it in running condition.

Thanks guys, The colors are original or as close to original my dad could find when it was painted. It is very original. I need to re do the brakes as my dad before he passed could not remember things and lost some parts. Will most likely pull motor and rebuild it. Needs interior work and wood bed work.

Welcome to the Bolt. Your truck what we see of it LOOK's Great. Here is something you might want to add to your collection if you don't already have it.

Now on to a question I have for you since you have a 37 GMC. The last picture of a man (my grand Pa) sitting on the outer floor board I would like to know what you see of the picture does it also look like my Grand Pa's truck is a 37 GMC/Chevy truck?

Thanks in advance.

Gosh what a nice looking pickup. I like the way the yellow on the grille flows back onto the hood and the cab. Gives me some ideas for my 38 panel which appears to have a nearly identical grille.

MJ the pic of your GrandPa sitting on the running board looks like it could be of a '36 chevy low cab or '37 GMC tough to tell since the trim lines above and below the door handle are the same on both models. Great photo to have

I may be wrong here as what I see from Googling 36,37,38 Chevy/GMC Trucks both 36 & 37 look alike as for the two trim lines below and above the door handle and what I have seen for the 38's the lower trim line looks a bit wider/thicker from the top trim line. Its just what I see, I maybe wrong though. Others with better knowledge please set me straight.

Thanks in advance.

Pfreeberg, welcome to the Bolt!
That's a great looking truck you have there. Good luck getting it going again. Keep us posted, and be sure to ask for advice if you need it. Lots of good info here.

So from what I posted above (hand drawing) about the two trim lines below and above the door handle on 36 & 37's and the 38 lower line being thicker (just what I've seen for googling) am I right by that statement? I don't care if its a GMC or Chevy both are made by General Motors. What would make "visually" the difference's between the three (36,37,38) if any?

These questions really belong in the General truck forum or maybe the Paint and Body forum.

..........to answer the question we need to know if you have any numbers. From the cowl tag, which on a 37 pickup is on the passenger side of the cowl.....or numbers from the title or engine if original. With numbers we have guys here who can decipher them.

......so, let move to the General truck site, or I'll edit it and move it there. Just trying to help.
