Hey folks, I’m helping my father out on his ‘53 project that we started a while back. We are having trouble finding or figuring out what goes in this weird hole under the seat in the cab. I found a single picture of the hole in the assembly manual but no reference as to what goes there.

Pictures are attached. Bottom of the cab, in the middle of where the seat is.
Note: last picture is of a new floor pan, without the mysterious hole.

Replacement floor pans do not have this hole

I guess it is a drain hole for condensation/water that gets into the cab under the seat.

I have a round plug in mine, as shown here.

Ah wow thank you. That is really strange, but I did see the “cab that breathes” link so, I guess GM knew what they were doing. Thanks!

I believe it's a drain. The hole under the seat on my '51 is round, not keyhole shaped.

Mine has the keyhole shape it is quite large I put a round grommet in the hole that does not cover the ends of the keyhole allowing for a drain .When I took my seat out before doing this I noticed a lot of road dust on the bottom of the seat in the middle were the hole is

I second that welder up unless your planning on leaving it out in the rain with the windows down.
