Could someone direct me to a picture of wired '49 3100 fuse box with the cover removed? My searches just show me the complete box with the cover installed or the basic parts.
I am trying to determine the best wire routing so the cover fits properly and none of the wires are pinched. I need to see how the wires run in and out of the box as well as how they lay over the terminals.
Everything is connected correctly and operates as it should. We are having fun trying to get the cover installed!
Here's a pic of the original 2-circuit fuse box on my '51. Should be the same as your '49.
[on edit] My bad. I didn't realize '50-51fuse boxes are different than on '48-49 trucks. The headlight circuits are protected by the circuit breaker on the headlight switch apparently, since the two fuses on '50 and later are just for tail and stop lights. I had seen the picture in a copy of the 48-51 manual but it was not as clear as these. The key lesson learned in this truck project is that all AD trucks are not created equal! When you start digging into the detail there were quite a few changes over the 6+ year run.
This is one of those cases where I am rewiring the truck but was not the one who took it apart! That always provides an interesting twist to the project!
Plus we are using an aftermarket harness rather than a reproduction. It looks very similar to the one that Greg installed.

Thanks for the link. I am well aware of Keith’s website and the outstanding amount of information there. I use it frequently. In fact I am concerned that there might not be someone paying to host it over the longer term. So someday it could just disappear.
As I noted in my original post the issue is the physical routing of the wires. Unfortunately schematics really don’t offer much help for that situation.
