I’ve done a lot of reading in the search pages, but I haven’t seen a clear answer to the question of which cast iron rams horn exhaust manifolds if any will clear the stock 1957 Chevy 3100 steering box. I have a right side part # 3747038 which looks like it will work on the passenger side. I’d like to mount an alternator on the driver’s side. Can I use a manifold with no mounting brackets on the driver side and use a block/intake mount system for the alternator? My heads have no accessory holes. This is a 1964 327 in a 1957 Chevy 1/2 ton. I’m open to 2 1/2” or 2” inch collectors.
Thank you,
Larry

It's fairly simple to make an alternator bracket that straddles the front two exhaust manifold bolt holes, even if there's no boss on the manifold for the original generator/alternator mount. I've fabricated several of them out of a piece of angle iron and some short 3/8" pipe nipples.

Here's a link to a page with photos, applications and part numbers of every Chevy V8 exhaust manifold. Scroll down till you see something that might work for you.

I believe Mr. Gasket and others make a simple, inexpensive SBC alternator exhaust mounting bracket.
