Ok, located a 4:10 pumpkin out of a 71 chev 3/4 ton auto to put in my 50 3600. Looks to be in good shape... only problem is the price, $350.00. I feel this is about $200.00 too high. Any opinions?
The same place has dodge 16" wheels w 4 5/8 center hole to fit my 8 lug pattern.I only have 1 good 15" split rim, the rest have holes rusted thru. I don't think they are safe to repair. Looking for advice on what size tire to use. I wanted truck radials for ride and control. Thinkin that a tall narrow tire would be the best. According to the shop manual as near as I can tell, the truck originally had 6:70 15's. What is the proper diameter tire to not screw up speedo etc. Any other ideas???

I paid $45 at a pick-n-pull... smile

The people selling these know how popular they are. Good luck haggling!

Give this guy a call. He should be able to ship you a pumpkin for far less money.
Tom Myers, Miami, OK 918-542-3871

Original tires should have been 7.00-15, iirc. When I put 16" wheels on my truck, I went to a 7.50R16, that kept the tire halfway narrow, but upped the diameter to 32+ inches. My spedo reads 7% slow, but you won't be in any races. The thing to do is to get your differential in and tire situation resolved, then get the proper speedo gear.

One thing to be careful of with the wheels is the setback, distance from the back edge of the rim to the hub mounting surface. You can run into clearance problems with the tie rod ends on the front if your setback is deeper with the new wheels. My 16" Chevy wheels are almost 2" deeper, so I am still running 15's on the front, I will have to make spacers to run the 16's. And don't forget the radials will be wider, too.

Take those rusty rims to the scrapper, they're dangerous. eek

Does that pumpkin happen to have a Detroit Locker in it?
