I was thinking of doing that because I dont want the modern electronics [tbi]. If anyone used an intake and carb and it worked well please let me know what type you used. | | | | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 240 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 240 | I am doing that right now, problems you are going to face is Fuel Pump, is the block drilled for the push rod, Camshaft, does it have the lobe for the fuel pump. Mine did but the lobe on the cam was a problem. Does the cam have roller lifters if it does you will need this camshaft from Rock Auto Enginetech ES808 $140.79 plus shipping. It will work with stock roller lifters Other Co's offer cams but require retrofit roller rockers $$$$$$. Cam lobe seperation is the problem carb and EFI. Application for the cam is 1993 Chevroled Caprice w/5.7 police car, they had carbs instead of EFI. Basically thay are a RV grind. Mine has not fired yet but have a friend that has one in his old Caprice and said it is peppy. I will get the intake ## and carb ## later.

It doesn't have to have a mechanical run off of the block. | | | | Joined: Sep 2020 Posts: 40 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2020 Posts: 40 | You'll need a Vortec specific intake, as the intake bolt holes locations are different from the previous versions. But yes, it's been done before and with great results. | | | | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 240 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 240 | Sure you can use a electric pump, OP stated he wanted to get away from electronics, if the block can't accept the mechanical fuel pump that is an option
