Post up what your truck looked like before & after the build and a little history behind it. I did not build my 49 but the PO started the build in 2015 and had it almost completed before my wife and I purchased it a little over a year ago. Since buying the truck the whole front end has been rebuilt, new 2 1/2" dual exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers, the cab was gutted and fitted with leather bucket seats and console, made new door panels, installed radio and dome light. The steering shaft with the old rag joint was removed and replaced with a new Borgeson telescopic steering shaft. Made driving a whole lot better. Door seals were added to help with the noise inside the cab.

Our 1956 3100 started off as a father-son project in 1996 (I think). My son was 13 at the time and this was to be his High School driver. He was to to do most of the work with me helping along the way. As time went by he got busy with other things (school and girls) and couldn't find time to work on the truck, so it was put in storage for 14 years as a running chassis with the sheet metal all in primer. I had always told him I'd work with him, BUT I wasn't building it for him all by myself, I had my own projects!
While at a family diner with my now grown kids and their spouses my wife ask the son when he was going to take the truck and start working on it...he said he didn't have time and the wife responded back that I would finish it and she would drive it! So after all that time I was finishing the truck that I never wanted to do "all by myself". It took me about 5 years to get it all done. Here's the before and after pictures.

Before and after exterior and interior. 1949 GMC 150 longbed in Ferrara Blue Bone stock look on the outside with a stock 5.3 fuel injected LS under the hood mated to a factory style column shifted 3 speed with a borg warner electric overdrive with 4.11 gears out back. Has fully restored interior with heat, AC, and soon to be original appearing radio w/ Bluetooth. I put 9000 miles on the truck since I put it together last year. All miles were nothing but smiles.
I thought the gallery was the place for before and after pictures, but since the mods haven't stepped in....
The before pictures were taken in 1992. The after pictures were taken in 2019. Yes, this project took us a while. We moved (twice) into homes that needed renovations.
When we opened the forum to photos, one of the instructions from the site owner was that you were not to use the opportunity to replace the Gallery. This thread is now locked.
