hey guys, i'm workin on a hybrid...lol..it's a 62 nova i picked up about a year ago, the reason the guy sold it was 1 lifter came apart and while it sat someone stole the hei and tranny and carbs. i was gonna shove a 350 in it, til i pulled the 6 cyl. out n got to lookin at it. it's a 1958 261 engine (i know they didn't come in novas, but that's what it is.)bored .125 over high comp. pistons and all the other goody's, fenton headers, fenton dual intake etc..so i did rings, bearings, had the head done etc..heres my prob... i have only 7 inches of clearance from the intake to the hood. i wanted to put the carter/webers on it or holley/webers. but with adapter plates n carbs don't think it'll clear. wonderin if you guys with these carbs could measure from top of intake to top of carb n let me know the height..if to tall what 1 barrell carbs should i be looking for and where..thanks guys.

I measured both my H/W single setup and my C/W dual setup. I'm running a stock manifold on the H/W and an Offy on the dual c/w's.

From the bottom of the adaptor plate to the top of the carb (where the air cleaner makes contact on the bottom) it measures 5-3/8". With a 2-1/2" paper filter and spun aluminum cover the overall to the top of the wingnut measures 9". This was the same for both H/W and C/W's.

I'm not sure if there is a 1" paper filter but using a flat plate on top might give you the clearance.

I've got some pics of both the H/W and C/W's in my webshots albums...you might be able to get a better idea from them. Hope this helps.
