Hello, just wanted to introduce myself and my truck. A 1953 GMC 453 dump. Picked her up a few months back with fresh brakes, running on a mix of rust and varnish, front military and rear Toyo Jetliners (from the 60/70s?). No idea where they found this thing, but the previous owner got it running and driving for the most part. My plans are to put it to work on our small property. So far I've ordered all the interior parts I can for it, some WheelsNow Accuride copies (22.5 Budds) and new Toyos. I have a few questions converting from Motor Wheels to Budds, but I will post that in the appropriate section.
Thanks for this great forum, there isn't much info on these big bolts out there so it's definitely nice to find some people that share an interest in these.
Welcome to the bolt. Ole Girl looks to be in decent shape. I did hear a rumor that those military tires are not the best when the roads are wet and slick (that were on a 1/4 ton jeep). You will be ok off road, but I'd be wary if its on the road in one of those monsoons!

I can confirm that rumor, especially on ice, and if the pressure is low. It was exciting ride in that jeep and trailer combo.

I can also confirm, as an owner/operator of both an M-37 and an M-817, that the Military spec NDT tires are NOT meant for sustained highway use. Let me foot stomp that .... NOT!!! If you plan on driving much on improved roads, you can either replace them now or replace them soon. The NDTs are soft rubber and were spec'd for off-road conditions in the Fulda Gap. Nothing else.

Thanks everyone. Love this thing. Yeah, I got the truck with the military tires already on the front. No intention on keeping them. Swapping to 22.5 tubeless with regular highway for the steers and m608z for the traction.

I love the grilles on big bolt GMC’s. It looks like it has a huge handlebar moustache! Nice score. I am hoping my uncle can find me a set of fenders down in Arizona this winter for my AD. They are non existent up here.
