1958 GMC 1/2 ton step side with 6 lugs.

What size rims will fit?
Looking for more original looking aftermarket like a steel wheel with center caps.
Any recommendations or suggestions ?

Thanks in advance

I am asking what rims will fit my 1958 GMC truck as I am unsure of which will fit.

Can you just go and purchase any 6 lug and they will fit? I doubt it.

I am wanting to restore the more traditional look to my truck.

I am asking for information only so i know what style, years , etc will be work on my stock truck.

There are numerous aftermarket vendors that can provide wheels to your specifications. Wheelsmith, Vintique, and Summit to name a few. Aftermarket wheels don't accept the stock hub caps, however hub caps can be modified to fit. GM used the 6 lug bolt pattern from the 30's and into the early 70's. There were some differences in width, style, and hub cap mounting. Chevy TF trucks (55-2 through 59) used the same basic wheel as your GMC with the same hub cap clips. They may be more readily available.

Please note Stovebolt rules prohibit buying, sell or trading in the garage forums. Please take offers to PM.

The post offering to sell rims was deleted.

Danny, I did the same search as you and eventually came across wheels at Southwest Wheel Company in Dallas. They are Part#700666. Size: 16X6 - 5.5. I had to add the hubcap clips. They are not OE but close enough for me.

So you went up to 16" rims? Do they make a 15" rim that will clear the calipers?
Those look great btw !

I am looking for an aftermarket 6 lug rim that will fit the truck.... I plan on converting to disc on the front also; but I am not even sure if they make a 6 lug 15" rim that will fit over the calipers.

No offence KDrown. I've never seen anyone use nub wheels with clip caps. I don't recommend that to the poster.
To the poster: If you want original 15" rims for your truck, you search and buy original rims from somebody. As far as wheels with hub cap clips that fit whatever caliper you have you need to measure, make a go no-go gauge or trial and error. Wheels available were 15, 16 and 17.50. GMC or Chevy, same wheel. They are narrow and tires are sometimes pricey. There's a brazillion choices without clips, 6 on 5.5.
I have used the ever popular Chevy 10 slot rally Wheel over calipers on 55.2-59. They look good with trim rings and top hat cap. Around 1973 era. 7 wide and 8 wide. Look good with the ever popular 31x10.50R15 tire. Ebay and Craigslist for the wheels. Also there is a 5 slot Chrome rally.
I am not guaranteeing they will fit your calipers. But many were used with disc brakes.

The ones I have are 15" repros from Coker, and if I'm remembering correctly, with the wheels converted to calipers, it JUST dragged the front of the caliper, not the top. So diameter wasn't the issue, it was offset, and just barely. Adding some washers on the lug studs, or an 1/8" wheel spacer would probably be enough.

Usually plenty of extra casting to grind off of calipers for clearance, but need to paint after.

Those wheels look great !!

Is it just an optical illusion, or is there significantly less than full thread engagement on the lug nuts?

If so, would that be an issue?

Best Regards.....
