None of my local auto parts stores can find anything and the search function isn't returning part numbers either. I'm having my 1946 2 ton axle rebuilt now and I need an oversized kingpin rebuild kit. Anyone know the part number? My pin diameter is 1.109" and I need .010" bigger because the eyes on my axle are wallered out!! (oblongated??) Alternatively If anyone has the stock sized kit part number I could potentially use that kit but the machinist would still have to fabricate oversized pins.
I've checked ebay, the local NAPAs, Rare Parts etc and am striking out. | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | | | | | Joined: Apr 2019 Posts: 26 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2019 Posts: 26 | That seems like a very user friendly website, but I didn't find it listed anywhere and I experimented with other years etc. | | | | Joined: Feb 2016 Posts: 147 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2016 Posts: 147 | Is this what you're looking for? I don't know enough about your 1946 2 Ton (is it chevy? is it GMC?) to know for sure. Maybe someone else can chime in. 1946 GMC King Pin Set with 1.118" Diameter Pin

I find two different 1.109" diameter king pins in 1946 trucks, my 1980 TRW Chassis Parts catalogue lists their part number K129N which is 6.75" long and K391C which is 6.34" long. Unfortunately there are no .010" oversize pins available. My suggestions would be to have your machinist bore the axle substantially oversize and make up a bushing bringing the axle kingpin bore back to standard size. You could also look for another axle in better condition, or have Rare Parts make you a custom set of kingpins, hope that helps | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 | Hy Brian46Chevy, More research has yielded a Euclid part number E-4430B10 which has the dimensions of 1.119" X 6.34" and uses a centered single drawkey, hope that helps. | | | | Joined: Apr 2019 Posts: 26 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2019 Posts: 26 | Hy Brian46Chevy, could you post your serial number please? I couldn't source or cross that part so I paid way too much and ordered from Rareparts.com I'm hoping that is the correct part but the guy on the phone at rareparts said they didn't have it/couldn't get it but I could email another employee to get a bid on them custom making the kit for me. | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 | Hy Brian46 Chevy, okay more research has yielded a few more part numbers, the Euclid p/n E-4430B10 interchanges with Dayton 300-108, Moog 8490T+10, FM/TRW K391C+10, you should be able to get someone to track down one of those part numbers if you haven't already made a deal with Rare Parts, hope that helps. | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 | Hy Brian46Chevy, okay I crossed E4430B10 at Napa and came up with their part number NCP 2621475010, unfortunately there are no specifications on the page and their picture shows a kingpin with two slots, but only one drawkey per kingpin, call them and see if you can confirm dimensions and availability, good luck. | | | | Joined: Apr 2019 Posts: 26 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2019 Posts: 26 | Hy Brian46Chevy, okay I crossed E4430B10 at Napa and came up with their part number NCP 2621475010, unfortunately there are no specifications on the page and their picture shows a kingpin with two slots, but only one drawkey per kingpin, call them and see if you can confirm dimensions and availability, good luck. Hey 3B, I really appreciate your help! I called my local napa and the told me that last number is Canadian and I can't have it here!! I did order the part number listed above from Rareparts, it seems correct-ish tho listed for another vehicle. I guess I will see what I get. | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 | Hy Brian46Chevy, I guess this will be my last note on this subject, I crossed the Euclid p/n on the American Napa website and I just went back and verified that fact so I don't know why they can't verify that part number and give you the specifications. I hope you get what you need from Rare Parts and that you can still afford to eat after you do. | | | | Joined: Apr 2019 Posts: 26 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2019 Posts: 26 | I got the parts from rare parts. It is an oversize kit for a different application so the kingpins are too long and the seals wrong but my machinist can make it work. There's only one store around here with an old paper book/ catalog. The old stuff isn't in their online database, and if it's not online- it doesn't exist. | | |
