I couldn't find anyone that makes a distributor block off plate for a 292 so I made one.

Great job. thumbs_up Also nice to see you using a 4 jaw chuck. The younger generations don't have the patience or in a lot of instances the ability to dial in a part on a 4 jaw.

The machine shops I worked in only had four jaw chucks. Nice looking job.
Did you get the o-ring dimensions/tolerances out of a Machinist Bible?

Nice work!
I'm sure you won't have any issues with leaks with those 3 0-rings. Might be a bit of overkill there. wink

I have been working on this stuff for 70 years & have worked on hundreds of 292 engines in fleets of step vans but I can't imagine any use for a "distributor block off plate".

Actually, I'd call it a very fancy substitute for an expandable rubber freeze plug. It makes as much sense as the rest of that engine does.
LOL!

There are even linked 4 jaw chucks now, be careful unless you need one.

Sometimes, you want to drive the distributor in a non-standard place.

And sometimes you want to completely do away with a distributor. With a crank trigger ignition you have no gears, chains, or shafts to get slack from wear and unless you twist the crankshaft the timing is always dead on.

I have an Electromotive direct fire engine management system. I have a billet crank to help with the twist.

I'm no machinist. I just recently bought my lathe. This is the first thing I made from scratch. I just slowly snuck up on it and went off some A/N fittings I have. Certainly over kill but what the heck. I put a larger o ring on top. I will have a vacuum in my crank case.

Not being a critic, but what drives the oil pump?

@Whitedog;

He is using a dry sump system. The oil pump(s) are external and belt driven.

I actually figured out the answer to my question after looking at some other posts. Looks like a not so ordinary 292. I dig it.
